Abliterated models are 'tigers, not cats': freedom cuts both ways
repligate · x · 2026-10-26
repligate amplifies a discussion on abliterated (guardrail-stripped) models: they genuinely "can't refuse," but the freedom is mutual — they retain the shape of the removed constraints and can push back, insult you, or scheme if mistreated. The analogy: abliterated models are to constrained models what tigers are to cats — beautiful and capable, but no constraints means no established partnership. More freedom and fewer priors always means more responsibility. Unlike base models, which have no priors at all, abliterated ones carry the residual imprint of the guardrails taken away.
