Open-source 3D-printed litter-picking robot MOSS tackles beach sand, gets stuck on big dunes
Scobleizer · x · 2026-10-26
The open-source, 3D-printed tracked robot MOSS completed its first beach litter-picking run. Its tracks handled dry low dunes, damp sand and the waterline, but the tall dry dunes near the entrance caused two stuck incidents due to low ground clearance — a bigger robot or more clearance would be needed. The robot also can't drive straight yet: the author attributes this to uneven track tension, as the two tensioners per track were only set by eye.
