Torch.compile Flag Cut 16 Regions to 2, Delivering 4.53x Speedup on B200
cfregly · x · 2026-10-26
Developer cfregly published a B200 PyTorch 2.14.1+cu130 compiler microbenchmark showing that a single compile setting changes generated region structure dramatically: the same 64 ATen ops compile to 16 regions (16 replay launches + 16 copy kernels per call) under False, vs just 2 fused regions of 32 ops each (2 launches + 2 copy kernels) under True.
Result: 4.53x steady-state speedup, though the first 10 compiled-call intervals run 33.2% longer due to compile overhead. He links the benchmark code, analyzer, 24-run data and graphs, noting both arms keep the same explicit inner graph break.
