Japan to build AI cyberattack simulation team as AI defense goes mainstream
evijit · x · 2026-10-26
Japan will set up a team to simulate cyberattacks using AI to identify weaknesses in tech systems, as organizations scramble to address flaws in a programming language underpinning much of the internet. Commenting on this, evijit argues AI-enabled cyber defense is quickly becoming the norm: defenders' access to powerful open models without refusals accelerates this, since asking a model to simulate an attack is part of pentesting/defense, and model-level safeguards can be counterproductive there.
