Judging AI x bio only by FDA-approved drugs is nonsense, argues neal_amin
anshulkundaje · x · 2026-10-26
Replying to critiques that measure AI x bio (and academic biological research) solely by FDA-approved drug delivery, nealamin argues this standard is nonsense. Biological research products are everywhere — engineered crops, detergent enzymes, supplements, diagnostics, wastewater epidemiology, environmental cleanup, conservation genomics, skincare, meat substitutes, outbreak monitoring, mosquito control — and all will benefit massively from AI-accelerated discovery. Microbes are even being designed to terraform Mars.
