Grok Bot 0.77 prerelease reveals phone calling, autonomous payments and Tailscale access
xiaohu · x · 2026-10-26
A teardown of Grok Bot 0.77 prerelease builds (pre.3 → pre.19, 20 changes across 17 builds, via @blankspeaker) shows XAI's bot moving toward autonomous execution:
- Phone calls: a full call panel with dialing, hold, keypress menus, transfers and live transcripts, plus prompts for how the bot should answer
- Autonomous payments: payment account binding and default settlement method, with per-purchase confirmation; off by default
- iMessage bridging: config entry for connecting Mac SMS
- Tailscale access: the bot can join a tailnet, wait for admin approval, and even be set as default
- Bot sharing: invite others by email; invite links can expire
- Misc: map area search, Teams disconnect warnings, page-code cancellation notices, routine buttons
If these ship, Grok Bot becomes an agent that can handle calls, payments and private-network services — not just chat.
