Court filing alleges Anthropic trained Claude on synthetic data derived from LibGen and PiLiMi

Miles Brundage shared a screenshot of a lawsuit filing against Anthropic, expressing doubt about the complaint's accuracy. Paragraph 46 of the filing alleges that while Anthropic publicly denied training Claude on Library Genesis, PiLiMi, and torrented data, its narrow definition of "training" excludes pretraining: at least one commercially released Claude model allegedly used synthetic data generated by a non-commercial AI model that was itself trained on LibGen/PiLiMi-derived text, and Anthropic allegedly used such a model to provide reinforcement feedback to a commercial model.
