Year-long indie game cloned in a week with AI, exposing the community-building trap

Indie dev Anurag Anand posted a gameplay video on Reddit to promote his game, only to see a user clone it with AI within a week and publish the clone to the same subreddit.
Reposter TheCartelDel frames the broader dilemma: indie devs are told to build communities before launch, but that exposes games to AI clones — and even post-release they can be copied before profiting. A screenshot shows a dozen-plus "Needle In A Haystack"-style copycat titles on Steam.
The dev calls for stricter regulation, warning that otherwise software as a product risks becoming irrelevant.
