Blogger: $5M Could Validate Music-Generation Models as an Alzheimer's Therapy
jajoosam · x · 2026-10-26
Sam Jajoos proposes training music-generation models to treat and possibly prevent Alzheimer's, arguing $5m could build and rigorously validate what might become a widely deployed public-health intervention. The basis: MIT's Tsai and Boyden labs found 40Hz light/sound stimulation reduces neuron loss in mice. Cognito Therapeutics has taken 40Hz goggles+headphones to a 670-patient pivotal trial (results this year); an earlier smaller trial showed 69% slower brain shrinkage vs sham, though it missed its primary endpoint. A music-only version could reach far more people as a prophylactic. The post also explains why optogenetics (Deisseroth's Nobel-winning tech) can't map 1:1 to humans.
