Cyberpunk 2077 runs in Chrome via WebGPU — local GPU rendering, not streaming
seatedro · x · 2026-10-26
A dev going by omonkeyzz got Cyberpunk 2077 running in Chrome — not cloud streaming, but rendered locally on your own GPU via WebGPU, with game assets streaming in as you play. seanedro/ seatedro argues it's technically trivial once you think about it: Chrome is a cross-platform app that serves assets and uses WebGPU to render, and the real surprise is it took this long thanks to "abstraction slop." He also jokes he'll be cast to the shadow realm if Jonathan Blow sees him calling it "direct access to the GPU."
