Open-source userscript brings back a table of contents for long ChatGPT chats
TonyHMeow · reddit · 2026-10-25
A Reddit user built a free, MIT-licensed Tampermonkey userscript that restores a table-of-contents style navigation for long ChatGPT conversations. A stack of pills sits at the center-right edge; hovering reveals your prompts and clicking jumps back to one.
Design details: the panel stays unobtrusive, opens near your current section and scrolls independently, works from the first prompt, builds the index without auto-scrolling through history, and supports light/dark mode. It targets desktop Chrome + Tampermonkey, needs no API key, and makes only read-only requests to ChatGPT with no analytics or third-party data. Available on Greasy Fork with source on GitHub.
