A programmer's 1024 reflection: when AI coding stopped feeling like a miracle
VoidAsuka · x · 2026-10-25
A developer reflects on watching AI coding evolve from installing Linux on a USB stick and compiling his first C program, to Tab completion feeling like magic — until the magic became momentum and programmers were left behind. He compares programming now to speaking to a wish-granting willow: sometimes it gives exactly what you want, sometimes what you asked for with something else quietly attached. He's still looking through the code and his own words for what that something is.
