Developer marclou launched MailCheap, an open-source newsletter tool claiming to be 83% cheaper than beehiiv and 75% cheaper than Mailchimp/Ghost, starting at $19/month with pay-per-send pricing so you don't pay for dormant subscribers. He says he's sent 107,972 emails on it that drive six-figure revenue.
Features include an editor, scheduling, stats, a website per issue, deliverability guardrails, and sending from your own domain; imports from beehiiv, Substack, or Mailchimp in 2 minutes. Everything in the UI is exposed to AI agents. One user reports cutting $380/month (beehiiv + ActiveCampaign) down to $19.
