Walmart unveils agent profiles, spending limits, and gateway for AI shopping agents
emmanuelvivier · x · 2026-10-25
Walmart announced three updates (Oct 21) to keep shoppers in control as AI agents take on a bigger role in ecommerce, across Walmart and Sam's Club:
- Agent Profiles: authorize AI agents, set spending limits, and track purchases
- Agent Gateway: a direct connection between agents and Walmart's shopping services
- New purchasing rules: limits on agent actions and access to customer data
Walmart is also helping marketplace sellers prepare for AI-driven product discovery. It builds on the Sparky shopping agent and integrations with Meta's Muse, ChatGPT, and Gemini; launch partners weren't specified.
The thread also references Google Cloud's Agent Compute Engine launch.
