Investor Stewart Alsop III notes that Bored Ape NFT profile pictures have become synonymous with AI slop cannon accounts: if you're talking with one of these accounts, you're likely talking to a bot, and he urges anyone still using one as a PFP to change it immediately.
He frames it as crypto's promise going through the slop cannon wringer — the degeneracy of 2021-2025 burned the industry's reputation; it will rise again but needs a decade-long timeout.
