Microsoft open-sources Skill Recorder: record a task once, your Copilot agent learns to do it
udmrzn · x · 2026-10-25
Microsoft open-sourced Skill Recorder (4.3k GitHub stars, v0.7.0 released), a tool that lets your AI agent learn tasks by watching you do them once.
How it works:
- Hit record (⌘⇧R / Ctrl+Shift+R) and do the task normally — you can narrate aloud
- It captures clicks, app switches, pages, and terminal commands locally
- GitHub Copilot turns the recording into an editable step list
- One click turns it into an agent skill or a scheduled automation
It generalizes from one example: recording a single form submission teaches the agent to submit all of them.
Runs on Mac, Windows 11, and Ubuntu; requires a GitHub account with Copilot access. v0.7.0 is source-only and adds an optional SKILL.md preview before install/export.
