CERN and Mistral partner to build the first foundation model for collider physics
burny_tech · x · 2026-10-25
CERN and Mistral signed a statement of intent to jointly develop the first pretrained foundation model for collider physics. It will be trained on billions of simulated LHC proton-proton collisions and support tasks like collision reconstruction, particle identification, anomaly flagging, and detector design evaluation. CERN produces over one million TB yearly, set to double with the High-Luminosity LHC upgrade.
