DeepMind's TacticAI: Liverpool FC experts preferred its corner-kick tactics 90% of the time

TacticAI, an AI football tactics assistant developed with Liverpool FC domain experts by DeepMind researchers, focuses on corner kicks. It combines predictive and generative components so coaches can sample alternative player setups and pick those with the highest predicted success likelihood, treating each player as a graph node. In qualitative studies, experts found its suggestions indistinguishable from real tactics and preferred them over existing tactics 90% of the time.
