Jailbroken Kindle with KOReader + WeRead plugin beats modern e-readers, dev adds Obsidian sync
vista8 · x · 2026-10-24
A developer argues a jailbroken old Kindle is the best value e-reading hardware—cheap with long battery life. The stack: KOReader plus a WeRead (WeChat Reading) plugin, optional SimpleUI for interface tweaks, and you can even let Codex or Claude Code customize the code. He also just added a send-to-Kindle feature to the Qiaomu Read Obsidian plugin, supporting both stock Kindle and KOReader systems.
