Dev reverse-engineers a 90s Mac puzzle game into a browser-playable RL environment
Michael_D_Moor · x · 2026-10-24
Out of nostalgia, a developer reverse-engineered a 90s Mac puzzle game from their childhood and turned it into an RL environment playable directly in the browser; the project is open source on GitHub.
Key features:
- A built-in level editor with JSON export for custom maps
- Automatic curriculum generation: agent tournaments where agents create maps that others must solve — maps that no agent can crack become extra-hard levels
- Effectively an adversarial, self-escalating curriculum learning setup
