Dev pushes back on AI doomerism: 'a text sampler won't end humanity'
gerardsans · x · 2026-10-24
Developer Gerard Sans clashed with Snyk CTO Joshua Saxe over AI extinction claims, arguing a "text sampler" can't cause a cyberpocalypse, sasspocalypse, or human extinction, and mocking Silicon Valley for "creating the lie and eating it whole."
He claims AI corporations are positioning for commercial exploitation of cyber fear, expecting plenty of noise and public-opinion manipulation until the market produces enough billing — which he doubts will ever happen, as AI is "barely producing any actual results." A representative doomerism-vs-skeptic exchange in the AI discourse.
