Gemini CLI PR adds MCP server/tool metadata to ACP permission requests
duvanka-prasad · ghdev · 2026-10-24
PR #29910 on google-gemini/gemini-cli improves MCP permission handling in ACP mode:
- Populates toolCall.meta['gemini-cli'].mcp with { servername, toolname } so clients can see exactly which MCP server and tool is requesting authorization
- Adds confirmation.serverName and confirmation.toolName to MCP permission option labels
- Lets ACP clients pre-authorize client-supplied MCP servers via meta.trust, for both SSE/HTTP and stdio servers, cutting repeated confirmations
The PR fixes issue #29595, touches 6 files (+168/-3), includes unit tests for acpSession and acpSessionManager plus docs updates, and was validated on Linux via npm and npx.
