X pushes new recommendation algorithm code: searches, ad conversions now feed your For You feed
Kyrannio · x · 2026-10-24
X pushed a new batch of its For You recommendation algorithm code to GitHub (xai-org/x-algorithm, 33.8k stars), and @blankspeaker/@XOpenSource broke down what it means for your feed.
- The safety skip number (12.34) is a mock; prod uses a different cutoff, so you can't game spam checks from GitHub.
- Hide experiments can reshuffle accounts — a salt change can move you in or out of a hide/suspend test.
- Ads you only viewed can score later: a purchase or signup days after seeing an ad trains ad ranking, no click needed.
- Conversion URLs enter ranking — the ranker keeps web conversion URL ids in your history.
- Visibility checks fetch twice as many mute/block/safety lookups at once.
- For You can match posts to up to 16 recent searches (off by default; words stripped, embeddings kept).
- Risky replies can get a hide label (7/30 days or permanent) and vanish from busy threads.
- Spam bots, reply bots and impersonation scams get suspended or bounced with 30-day tags; AI-spam tags last 7 days.
