A solo developer open-sourced 724 Office, a self-evolving AI agent system built in 8 files, 26 built-in tools, 10k lines of pure Python, and zero framework dependencies (no LangChain/LlamaIndex/CrewAI), MIT-licensed and running in production 24/7 after three months of solo work.

Key design:

Three-layer memory: last 40 messages in JSON; on overflow the LLM compresses evicted messages into structured facts, deduplicates at 0.92 cosine similarity, and stores them in LanceDB; new prompts get relevant memories injected via vector search.
Runtime tool creation: a createtool command lets the agent write a Python function, save it, and hot-load it without restarting.
Self-repair: daily self-checks, error log analysis, session health diagnostics with failure notifications.
Scheduling: cron and one-shot jobs, persistent across restarts, timezone-aware.
Multimodal out of the box: image/video/voice/file handling, ASR, vision, video trimming/BGM via ffmpeg exposed as tools.
Multi-engine web search (Tavily/GitHub/HuggingFace auto-routing), Docker multi-tenancy (one auto-provisioned container per user), and edge deployment on an 8GB Jetson Orin Nano under a 2GB RAM budget.
