Alchemy PR #2439: Docs, Examples, and Tests Migrated to Effect-Native SQL Drivers
samgoodwin89 · x · 2026-10-24
samgoodwin89 shared the merged PR (alchemy-run/alchemy #2439) behind his all-in move to EffectTS native SQL drivers:
- @effect/sql-pg speaks the Postgres wire protocol itself (no pg dependency since rc.115); @effect/sql-mysql2 ships mysql2 as a regular dependency.
- Docs, examples, and tests updated: install commands drop raw drivers (e.g. pnpm add @alchemy.run/drizzle drizzle-orm @effect/sql-pg), and the AWS Lambda build config's install: ["pg"] is removed.
- Code that drove a raw pg client now uses SQL.Postgres, e.g. connecting via Cloudflare Hyperdrive and running sql\SELECT now() AS now\ directly.
