Ex-Fidelity manager: CoreWeave is a zero short of a bailout, AI is Shale 2.0

Former Fidelity portfolio manager George Noble lays out his bear case on Jack Farley's Monetary Matters podcast:
- Core thesis: "Short of a bailout, CoreWeave is a zero" — and so are many neoclouds. He likens the AI boom to the shale oil boom: a capex arms race nobody can afford to exit before ROI collapses.
- Numbers: Hyperscaler depreciation could exceed $500B a year by 2030, wiping out profits; he predicts most hyperscalers' profits will go negative as depreciation catches up with revenue growth.
- Positions: Short CoreWeave, Tesla, and SpaceX ("a cash-flow-negative AI play with a rocket company attached"), but cautions against shorting $NVDA and $MU — though valuing them on current/NTM earnings is a mistake, he says, drawing parallels to 2000s shipping.
- Trigger & hedges: Rising cost of capital as the trigger; long gold and energy; we're in "the beginnings of the awakening phase."
Jack pushes back on Micron margins, Elon's execution, and whether risk is priced in.
