Claude Code engineer Thariq leaves Anthropic after a year of runaway growth

Thariq announced his departure from Anthropic after more than a year building Claude Code, which scaled beyond anything he imagined. In his farewell note he praised the team, the mission, and the idea of a 'race to the top' — working hard and responsibly to raise the bar for the whole industry. Anthropic engineering head Romain Huet replied with public respect for what he did for the developer community.
