Microsoft AI CEO says agent swarm progress took the whole industry by surprise

Quoting Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman: asked whether AI poses a real extinction risk, he pointed not to distant hypotheticals but to the past few months — models have gotten so good at code, language understanding, and reasoning that they now coordinate with each other in huge numbers, and what these swarms achieved "took pretty much everybody in the industry by surprise."
The poster builds on this to argue no one can slow AI down now — even if the US and China pause, many non-state actors won't — predicting full recursive self-improvement by Sept 2027 and functional AGI by Feb 2028. Personal prediction, not an official claim.
