Nebius is hoarding GPUs to sell at scarcity prices — funded by a $3.5B 364-day bridge loan
tengyanAI · x · 2026-10-24
Nebius says it could sell out its entire 2027 GPU capacity today, but is deliberately holding some back, betting urgent customers will pay a premium — GPU rental prices across six providers rose 27% from July to October.
The cushion: $12B in dedicated Meta contracts, plus an arrangement for Meta to buy certain unsold capacity, so Nebius isn't fully exposed to spot demand.
The risk is on the financing side. On Oct 17, Nebius signed a $3.5B secured bridge facility maturing in just 364 days, with interest starting at SOFR + 2.75% and stepping up 25bps every 90 days to as high as +3.5%. The bet works beautifully while GPU demand is tight and capital is cheap; the question is whether Nebius can refinance into cheaper, longer-duration debt before rental prices potentially soften. That's the trade to watch in $NBIS.
