AI SDK ships Web Fetch tool for agents, discloses user-agent and IP details
gaganghotra_ · x · 2026-10-24
Vercel's AI SDK team introduced a Web Fetch Tool letting agents read any web page with any model. A developer asked which bot name and IPs the fetches use, so site owners can tell human traffic from agent crawls.
AI SDK's Nick Oates clarified the user-agent is ai-sdk-tool-web-fetch/<version>, and since the tool runs on the user's own machine there are no consistent IPs — it depends on where you deploy. Useful detail for site operators identifying agent traffic.
