Security researcher: Anthropic and OpenAI restricting models for defense is 'irresponsible'
AlexTensor · x · 2026-10-24
Security researcher DenLoginoff pushed back on 'vulnpocalypse' panic around AI-driven vulnerability discovery, arguing it's the best thing to happen to security in years: bugs exist whether AI finds them or not, so obscurity protects no one. The only path forward is discovering and patching everything — which he says will increasingly favor open source over proprietary software. He also argued defenders must have the same tools as attackers, calling Anthropic and OpenAI's restrictions on using their models for defense 'extremely irresponsible' and of no public benefit.
