Engineering is becoming part of private equity's playbook: if AI is supposed to improve acquisition economics, someone has to build the systems that make those assumptions hold.
- Aldaron: $1B AUM, half of its 12-person team are engineers, some set to sit on investment committees and portfolio boards.
- Long Lake (backed by General Catalyst): acquires services businesses and deploys its in-house AI platform Nexus across them.
- Hg: embeds engineers, PMs and designers inside portfolio companies via Catalyst to ship AI products.
- Sequence Holdings and Michael Dell's family office: agreed to take The Baldwin Group private at $7.7B.
