A senior SWE analyzed his AI coding transcripts and found 56% of API-equivalent costs went to rereading context; cache expiry cost him $98.74 across 35 returns in 27 days versus $2.95 with a warm cache.
He built and open-sourced optimAIzr, which supports Claude Code, Codex and opencode. It runs locally with no account or prompts, analyzes usage, flags expensive patterns, and surfaces optimization opportunities. Install via npm i -g optimaizr; the GitHub repo already has 140 stars.
