PSA: After AI's cybersecurity turning point, do this weekend security cleanup
leveragedupside · x · 2026-10-24
A widely shared PSA argues this week marked a turning point for AI and cybersecurity, urging everyone to spend the weekend on basic family security hygiene:
- Set up a password manager (e.g. 1Password) with a shared vault for your partner
- Rotate passwords for email, banking, and other critical accounts
- Enable 2FA everywhere — SMS is weak, authenticator apps/passkeys better, hardware keys best
- Add a SIM PIN to prevent SIM swapping
- Keep phones updated
Context: AI has drastically lowered the cost of phishing and voice-clone attacks, making ordinary families prime targets.
