FLUX.3 Klein tested across 20 anime styles: trails MOSS-Image, Krea 2 and Qwen-Image 2.1

A Redditor benchmarked Black Forest Labs' FLUX.3 Image Klein (5.6B, 16 steps, CFG-free) across 20 anime/2D styles in two rounds: traditional Booru-tag prompts vs. BFL's official prompting guidelines (natural language, no negatives, quoted text).
Verdict: official prompting improved coherence, artifacting and razor-sharp typography, but "prompt engineering cannot compensate for architectural and parameter bottlenecks."
Strengths:
- Solid text rendering (A/A-) thanks to the Qwen-3VL text encoder — Shonen Jump covers and Pokémon cards render letter-perfect
- Fast and VRAM-friendly on consumer GPUs
Weaknesses (vs. MOSS-Image-SFT, Krea 2, Qwen-Image 2.1):
- Generic character faces: grasps concepts but misses canonical drawing nuances
- Flatter color depth and dynamic range
- Reverts to smooth digital look even when gouache/ink/cel media are specified
- 5.6B ceiling: drops secondary subjects in complex multi-character scenes
