Indie dev launches TokenFuel to crowdfund AI builders' token spend via OpenRouter
RichardsonDx · x · 2026-10-24
Indie developer RichardsonDx launched TokenFuel, a crowdfunding platform that lets supporters and companies fund an AI builder's model tokens directly by card.
- Contributions (e.g. $25) require no account, issue email receipts, and after Stripe fees plus a 10% TokenFuel fee become metered API credit on the project's own key
- The key is OpenRouter-backed, so funded spend works inside Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Muse Code or custom code with any model, and can never exceed what supporters funded
- Built by the author for people who pay for tokens out of pocket to solve problems and open-source the results; projects can optionally publish usage publicly
