"Apple has a DevRel problem": developer says foldable iPhone launched with almost no dev support
TejasKumar_ · x · 2026-10-24
Tejas Kumar, AI engineer at IBM and longtime DevRel practitioner, writes that on launch day of Apple's first foldable iPhone (the iPhone Duo), his app wasn't ready — the only developer-facing notice he received was a single App Store Connect notification about new Xcode. He credits Apple's 2,000+ developer workshops across 19 cities but argues the launch exposes a DevRel gap: no early access, communication, or feedback loop for a major form-factor change. The piece also walks through what DevRel is and how to measure it, drawing on his roles at ZEIT/Vercel, Xata and DataStax.
