Critics slam Anthropic/OpenAI messaging: 'act smug when AI makes people nervous'

X user Steven Glinert mocked the messaging strategy he sees at Anthropic and OpenAI: "If events happen that make people nervous about AI, you should be smug about it. You might even rub it in their faces. The consumer should feel bad about using our product."
The post quotes an Anthropic employee's fatalistic reply — "yes. it was always going to be this way. we tried to warn the world" — as a prime example of the doomer-bragging tone critics find off-putting.
