An El País investigation found 'Donde el agua trabaja' by David Silva Rojas — winner of a €20,000 prize among 2,200 entries with rules banning AI — is 99% AI-generated per detector Pangram. Pangram also flags 97% of the author's interview answers and 80% of another first-person text as AI. Detector isn't infallible, but the signal is strong; the publisher is investigating what would be the largest case of its kind.
