MicroCapClub's Ian Cassel: AI erases the info edge, meeting management is the last moat
rickasaurus · x · 2026-10-23
MicroCapClub founder Ian Cassel argues AI tools have erased the information advantage that once separated great analysts from mediocre ones, and the speed edge will be commoditized. Paradoxically, the groups building the best stock-analysis AI are making the least sophisticated activities more valuable:
- Listen to earnings calls live, not the transcript two hours later — a five-second pause before answering a question about receivables means something the transcript won't show
- A receptionist with 22 years of tenure, a full parking lot at 4pm Friday, a CEO talking genuinely with line workers — none of that is in the 10-K
His conclusion: the ultimate edge is still being present with management in ways most investors aren't doing.
