Gemini somehow can't read its own Personal Instructions, user's toggles don't help
Connect_Reporter_799 · reddit · 2026-10-23
A Reddit user reports that Gemini cannot access what they typed into "Instructions for Gemini", despite enabling Google Workspace, turning on Personal Intelligence, and toggling the personal-instructions setting repeatedly.
A screenshot shows Gemini replying that it would need to check the account settings to read the instructions, and offering instead to search personal data like emails, calendar, or photos — suggesting a disconnect between the personal-context feature and instruction retrieval, likely a bug.
