10 of 12 Beta Robots Worked Without Fine-Tuning — Do We Still Need It?
micoolcho · x · 2026-10-23
@jerthesquare reports that fine-tuning is becoming unnecessary for robot onboarding: 10 of their 12 beta-tester robots performed well without it. Fine-tuning still helps specialize the Dream-1 model to specific tasks, but onboarding a new robot often no longer requires it. @micoolcho amplifies the bigger question: in the long term, do we even need fine-tuning? A ground-level signal that robot foundation models are heading toward zero-shot onboarding, much like LLMs.
