Google Docs' Native Code Blocks Are Hidden Behind Paid Workspace Plans
Aizkmusic · x · 2026-10-23
A user calls out a surprisingly gatekept Google Docs feature: native code blocks (Insert → Building blocks → Code blocks, or typing @code blocks) with syntax highlighting for Python, JavaScript, C++, HTML and more — but they're only available on paid Google Workspace plans (Business, Enterprise, Education, Nonprofits).
Personal @gmail.com accounts are excluded, as confirmed by Google's own AI Overview, which suggests free add-ons as the only workaround for individual users.
