kenbwork: routine CRO work will offshore, and AI-driven robotics will create a new kind of CRO
kenbwork · x · 2026-10-23
In a thread, kenbwork argues that wet-lab automation is underrated: with enough creativity and focused engineering using commodity semiconductor components, the main barriers — fragmentation of markets and bespoke lab workflows — can be overcome. Moving sequencing prep onto chips is becoming viable as molecular measurement tools improve. He also predicts routine CRO work will keep moving offshore (don't underestimate WuXi), but expects US robotics/AI talent with full control of experimental infrastructure to build a fundamentally new kind of CRO.
