LlamaIndex founder: I use LLMs for everything, yet never felt they're geniuses
lateinteraction · x · 2026-10-23
Charles Packer (lateinteraction), founder of LlamaIndex, confesses that despite a career spent almost entirely on language models, he has never had that moment of feeling frontier LLMs are geniuses or superhuman at anything he deeply prizes.
He says he can only see that "vibe" abstractly in others' reactions (e.g., mathematicians), not in his own work. Still, he calls LLMs the most impressive tools he's ever used and now does most of his computing through them — just "not yet" at the genius level. He then went back to Claude Code and Codex to get work done.
