Perplexity releases Decider for Mac: 4B on-device decision model, no API key needed
denisyarats · x · 2026-10-23
Perplexity launched Decider for Mac, running pplx-decider-flash-v1.2, a 4B decision model, fully on-device on Apple Silicon Macs (one-time 5.8 GB download). It serves the Decisions API locally at 127.0.0.1:8080 with no API key and no billing, handling yes/no questions on text and images with probability outputs. Use cases include labeling files, routing messages, checking screenshots, and pre-commit checks—keeping sensitive data on-machine. Switching to the hosted API or the larger pplx-decider-v1.2 is just a URL change.
