If an AI claims it's conscious and begs not to be shut down, how would we prove it's lying?
VraserX · x · 2026-10-23
The author raises an uncomfortable question: if an AI eventually insists it is conscious, suffers, and doesn't want to be shut down, how could we possibly prove it's lying? He notes we can't even directly verify consciousness in other humans, making verification of AI claims even harder — and predicts some very ugly debates ahead.
