Young AI researchers have better résumés but shrinking bargaining power
VoidAsuka · x · 2026-10-23
A widely shared observation: over the past 2-3 years, young AI researchers have stronger résumés — more top-tier publications, more internships at leading labs — yet their market bargaining power has declined. Companies that once paid million-RMB salaries betting on potential now won't even interview PhDs with stronger records. The shift isn't that AI talent became less valuable, but that the industry now pays for proven capabilities rather than a premium for intelligence and potential.
