Science cover: 3-agent AI nearly doubles physician diagnostic accuracy at lower cost
EricTopol · x · 2026-10-23
A Microsoft Research team (Harsha Nori, Eric Horvitz, Dominic King, Mustafa Suleyman, et al.) published a Science cover study on a 3-agent AI for sequential diagnosis. Across 300+ NEJM clinicopathologic cases and 300+ ER cases, it nearly doubled accuracy versus physicians, substantially lowered cost, and outperformed many AI models and physicians-plus-AI combos. Eric Topol highlighted it as higher medical accuracy at lower cost, headlining the issue's AI in Medicine feature.
