Claude Code Remote Control silently drops idle sessions, phone can't wake them
RobertJLora · ghdev · 2026-10-16
A reproduced bug report on the anthropics/claude-code repo: in the Mac desktop app's Code tab, Remote Control only stays connected while a session's process is running. Once a turn finishes and the session goes idle, the process is shut down and the link drops, making the session unreachable from claude.ai/code or the mobile app. The reporter checked their 30 most recent local sessions: the 2 running ones had remoteControlActive: true, all 28 idle ones false. Re-enabling via setremotecontrol is refused with "Remote Control requires an active session. Send a message first." — defeating the feature's main purpose of resuming finished chats from a phone. The suggested fix: keep idle sessions reachable or auto-wake the process when a message arrives.
